Course Description: This 6-hour, 43-minute advanced workshop introduces the MMPI-3, the most up-to-date, newly normed version of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory. In this prerecorded workshop, test coauthor Dr. Yossef Ben-Porath describes the rationale for, and methods used to develop, the MMPI-3, including the background and development, norms and test documentation, scales, interpretive guidelines, and case illustrations. Attendees will learn how the MMPI-3 builds on the legacy and strengths of the MMPI instruments to provide an empirically validated, psychometrically sound measure of psychopathology and personality. It is assumed that attendees have had graduate-level training in psychological testing and assessment. Learner Outcomes: As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:

Module Description:Module 1: Background and Development This module provides a brief history of the MMPI followed by an overview of the rationale for and methods used to develop the MMPI-3. After completing the module, participants will be able to describe the MMPI-3 background and development process. Time length: Approximately 65 minutes Module 2: Scales and Norms This module describes the 52 MMPI-3 scales and the new English- and Spanish-language norms. After completing the module, participants will be able to describe the new MMPI-3 scales, identify updates made to MMPI-2-RF scales, and describe the MMPI-3 normative samples. Time length: Approximately 120 minutes Module 3: Resources This module describes comprehensive information found in the test manuals and reports user’s guides that is available to help guide test users. After completing the module, participants will be able to identify the empirical foundations for using the MMPI-3. Time length: Approximately 90 minutes Module 4: Interpretation Guidelines and Case Illustrations This module describes detailed interpretive guidelines and uses case illustrations to demonstrate application of the guidelines. After completing the module, participants will be able to interpret MMPI-3 protocols following standard interpretation procedures for the test. Time length: Approximately 130 minutes |
