Audience: This session is targeted for individuals who are interested in using their SEL program to help students develop resiliency.

Course description: This 3-hour session examines SEL skills that contribute to the development of resilience in students and new strategies to assess and improve these skills.

Learning objectives: After attending this session, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate insight into the relationship between student resilience and SEL, as well as how to help students develop resilience
  • Identify the skills that enable the development of resilient characteristics in students within a comprehensive SEL framework
  • Apply assessment strategies for measuring children’s SEL skills and how these strategies fit into a multitiered system of support (MTSS) model for students
  • Organize and plan an intervention for teaching a group of students resilience enabling SEL skills and documenting its effectiveness
