SAIL CoLab, Inc. Acquires SSIS Assessment Assets from NCS Pearson to Launch Comprehensive Social & Behavioral MTSS Solution for PreK - 12th Grade Students
by
SCOTTSDALE, AZ — August 17, 2026 — SAIL CoLab, Inc. has officially acquired the Social Skills Improvement System (SSIS™) assessment assets from NCS Pearson, effective June 30, 2026. With this strategic acquisition, SAIL CoLab becomes the official publisher of all SSIS assessment and intervention products, uniting them into a singular, highly cohesive system dedicated to improving children and youths' social emotional skills and behavioral health.
Building immediately on this acquisition, SAIL CoLab has announced that a fully re-normed and expanded series of SSIS assessments will become available in late 2026. Most notably, the newly developed SSIS 2 Comprehensive Assessment of Social & Behavioral Health will replace the legacy SSIS Rating Scales (2008), which has stood for nearly two decades as the world’s leading positive behavior-focused assessment tool for PreK-12th grade students.
The updated portfolio will feature the core comprehensive assessment accompanied by the corresponding SSIS 2 Brief Universal Screener. Together, these two aligned instruments deliver valid, efficient, and multi-informant results that capture students' social skills strengths, stress, and related mental health concerns. Designed for immediate educational utility, these assessment results connect seamlessly with SAIL’s evidence-based SSIS Social Emotional Health CIP (2022) and CIP-T2 (2022) intervention programs. The integration of these redeveloped assessments creates a powerful, end-to-end Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) solution focused on proactively improving student behavioral health.
"When your goal is to help all children improve their social skills, reduce their stress, engage deeper in learning, and prevent long-term behavioral health concerns, look to the unified SSIS family of assessments and intervention products."
NCS Pearson, which has distributed a comprehensive array of SSIS assessments and intervention programs for over twenty years, will maintain a strong ongoing partnership with the new publisher. Pearson will continue to offer the next-generation SSIS 2 assessments digitally through its widely adopted Q-Global, DALS, and Review360 platforms.
To ensure broad accessibility for schools across the country, the SSIS 2 family of social behavior assessment tools and interventions will also be distributed online through Resonant Education, a key distribution partner since 2020.
School districts, clinicians, and educators preparing for the forthcoming 2026–2027 school year can anticipate upcoming announcements regarding the official release dates of the SSIS 2 assessments, as well as an upcoming calendar of supporting professional development opportunities.
