Our commitment to efficacy
In keeping with our commitment to efficacy, we have identified the outcomes that matter most to students and educators, and apply an evidence-based approach to product design and development. In April 2018 we published our first set of efficacy reports that have been audited by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Together, the products covered in these reports affect the lives of 18 million learners — we are proud to be the only learning company committed to efficacy with such rigor and at such a scale. To Pearson, efficacy is more than a reporting commitment, or a way to improve our products. Applying an outcomes-focused, evidence-based foundation to our products is a part of that commitment — at the heart of who we are and what we do — and is our vision for the future of learning.

The benefits for customers and learners
Identifying the outcomes that matter most to students and educators and applying evidence-based approaches to product design is only one of the ways we engage with and support our customers and learners. We believe that we can help you achieve desired outcomes by working with them to: better understand the outcomes that matter most to them effectively implement our existing products, and co-design and develop new products, to help achieve those outcomes capture experiences, best practices, and more rigorous efficacy studies about how learning technologies can be integrated into education.

Reporting on efficacy
Regularly reporting on the efficacy of our products allows us to illustrate the relationship between the use of our existing products and the outcomes that matter most to students and educators. In an effort to ensure transparency about how we conduct our research, and to give external assurance about the kinds of statements we make, we have subjected our Efficacy Reports to an external audit. Our research has also been subjected to peer review.
