How the Pearson Review of Progress and Learning is designed to meet the needs of today’s educators and students
Interim, benchmark, or periodic assessments have long been embedded in school practices. Now, as educators require tools to help evaluate student learning within the school year and predict readiness for the summative assessment, more emphasis is being placed on these measurements. Without accurate and reliable assessment information, educators are ill-positioned and under-informed to adequately support their students. To achieve desired results and improve student outcomes, interim assessments must be designed with features to support these uses and reduce the surprise that educators, students, and caregivers experience when they compare their interim and summative results.
This white paper details a set of key design principles for high-quality interim assessments, provides a set of questions for districts to consider when selecting an interim assessment, and introduces Pearson’s Review of Progress and Learning (PRoPL).
