This 3- hour session examines the relationship between bullying behavior and deficits in SEL competencies and how, by facilitating the development of SEL skills in all students, educators can address bullying behavior and prevent it. Research that shows how, by integrating behavioral and SEL assessment, educators can effectively identify the SEL needs of students when they engage in the bullying dynamic will also be discussed. Finally, this session will look at how a multitiered system of SEL intervention and support can improve the SEL competencies of students and replace bullying behaviors with proactive and empathetic behaviors.
