Cognitive Test Bias: Historical and Contemporary Perspectives Webinar (Register Now)

Presenter(s): Susan Raiford, PhD

This webinar reviews the history of concerns about cognitive test bias and fairness that emerged in the 1960s and how the field of test development has responded and evolved to address these concerns in contemporary cognitive tests.

Concerns about cognitive test bias and fairness emerged in the 1960s during a time of great cultural shift and change. A history of intelligence test use and related litigation involving California school psychology practice, as well as specific examples of analyses and practices, are used to illustrate and demonstrate how test development techniques evolved and psychological assessment practice responded to concerns about bias and fairness.
