Pearson and PCG Education Collaborate to Help Schools Meet the Needs of Special-Education Students

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. — September 15, 2011 —

Today Pearson announced an agreement with PCG Education to provide PowerSchool, the industry-leading student information system (SIS), with robust, integrated functionality to address the special-education needs of today’s schools and districts.

PCG Education is a leading provider of comprehensive, web-based student case management solutions for special education. The company’s EasyIEP™ application serves more than 824,000 special-education students in over 2,000 districts in the United States. EasyIEP™ has a robust feature set that helps districts successfully plan, implement and manage students’ individualized education plans (IEP) in a manner that increases teachers’ time with students and helps districts to achieve federal and state compliance.

"We are very excited about this partnership, as it allows us to provide integrated IEP management and special-education capabilities within PowerSchool," said Paul Fletcher, president, School Systems group of Pearson. "We believe that coupling EasyIEP with PowerSchool will allow us to bring unrivaled student data management and compliance capabilities to the broad student populations served by both PowerSchool and EasyIEP."

PCG Education closely tracks changes to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and continually adapts EasyIEP to meet the changing needs of education stakeholders, including teachers, administrators, other education experts and parents.

"Our strategic relationship with Pearson is a win-win for both parties and, most importantly, for our clients," said Grant Blair, PCG Education director. "We look forward to working with the Pearson team to achieve broader adoption of both PowerSchool and EasyIEP in the marketplace, as we collaborate to more effectively serve client needs with respect to student data management, funding and compliance tracking."
