Funding Source

Federal funding
Title I, Part A funds are applicable to the purchase of instructional materials and training to support their implementation. The 2020 CARES Act allows districts to waive the eligibility requirement that at least 40 percent of students qualify for free or reduced-priced lunch.
2020 Cares Act

The Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund can be used to purchase technology and instructional materials.

The Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER) is intended to support planning for long-term school closures and remote learning. There is a good deal of flexibility in how these funds are spent, focusing mostly on supporting students and reducing the academic impact of school closures due to COVID-19.

2020 CRRSA Act

The Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund was established to aid both private and public schools with pandemic-related education needs.

The Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund provides grants to address learning loss and other pandemic-related concerns. It is designed in such a way that states, districts, and schools have a good deal of flexibility in how these funds are spent to address learning loss.

American Rescue Plan Act

The American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act provides additional federal funds to states and districts, which are available through September 30, 2024. Additional information about the ARP is available in this US Department of Education press release.

The Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund provides money to states and school districts to help them reopen schools safely, keep them open, and address students’ academic, social, and emotional needs

District Funds
Aside from the budget typically allocated for instructional materials, additional funding may also be available in library and technology budgets.
