T-JTA® (Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis®)

Authors: Robert M. Taylor and Lucile P. Morrison

The Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis (T-JTA) assessment is designed to help clients develop awareness of personal characteristics that influence their relationships with others. With its unique "criss-cross" feature, the analysis is well suited for counseling couples. The individual reports are extremely helpful in counseling individuals.

Professionals can use the T-JTA test to help:

  • Promote discussion between clients in relationship, counseling, premarital sessions, and marriage enrichment programs
  • Develop the individual's self-awareness and identify traits that affect the person's ability to build relationships with others
  • Determine strengths and weaknesses individuals bring to the counseling process
  • Objectively identify areas in which improvement may be desirable

Key Features

  • The T-JTA test is self-administered and can be used with individuals or couples.
  • In couple's counseling, the criss-cross test format provides useful information on each individual as well as the dynamics at work in the relationship.
  • The criss-cross format helps minimize clients' defensiveness in the feedback session.
  • The interpretive reports include optional Client Summaries that can be shared with the individuals.
