Overview of Monolingual and Bilingual Assessors: Conducting Proper Bilingual Assessments
This workshop covers basic and intermediate information all speech pathologists should know about bilingual assessments: proper bilingual assessment, proper use of an interpreter, how to use bilingual assessments conducted by others, how to distinguish between a language disorder and normal language development, and important language and cultural issues that should be considered when working with bilingual clients. Although many of the examples will draw from work with Spanish-English bilinguals, the information shared during this presentation applies to all multi-lingual individuals. Assessors at all levels of expertise will gain tangible benefits from attending this workshop.
