Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS)

This brief, 15-item behavior rating scale helps to identify and classify children with autism and to distinguish them from developmentally delayed children who do not have autism. Children’s Communication Checklist—2 U.S. Edition (CCC—2)

The CCC—2 was developed as a parent or caregiver rating scale, which rates aspects of communication, screens for general language and pragmatic language impairment.

Children's Apperception Test (CAT)

Evaluate children's personality with the Children's Apperception Test (CAT), a downward extension of the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT). CAT measures aspects of personality, including level of reality testing and judgment, control and regulation of drives, and degree of autonomy. Composed of 10 drawings of animals, the test is based on the theory that children identify more readily with animal figures than human figures. A supplement, CAT–S, features a set of 10 irregularly shaped pictures of animals for further exploration of tension. Another version, CAT–H, features drawings of humans and was designed for use with older children and in research.

Children's Speech Intelligibility Measure (CSIM)

Use to establish baseline information about intelligibility and to monitor progress during the course of articulation/phonological treatment. Manual provides over 100 versions of the Stimulus List, so you can test a child frequently using a different word list each time. To administer, model 50 words and the child repeats each one for recording. Intelligibility is determined by a second individual, not familiar with the child's speech errors or patterns, who listens to the recording. CSIM meets new IDEA regulations for progress reports to parents on the same schedule as report cards for regular education.

Developmental Assessment of Young Children (DAYC)

Identify infants and young children who may benefit from early intervention. Identify children from birth through 5 years who may have possible delays in cognition, communication, social-emotional development, physical development, and adaptive behavior. Administer each of the five subtests separately or as a comprehensive battery in 10 to 20 minutes. Each of the five domains measured reflects an area mandated for assessment and intervention in IDEA for young children. Tailor the assessment to clients' needs by assessing any combination of the five domains. The test's format ables you to obtain information about a child's abilities through observation, caregiver interviews, and direct assessment. Obtain standard scores, percentile scores, and age equivalents.
