Psychologists/Neuropsychologists

Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence–Fourth Edition (WPSSI–IV)

Test Description:

The WPPSI is used to assess intellectual and cognitive abilities in young children. The test measures verbal, perceptual and processing speed abilities and allows clinicians to identify strengths and weaknesses in cognitive and intellectual functioning. The WPPSI-III is being updated, and we will be going into final standardization this year.

Ages to be Tested

Ages 2 years 6 months through 7 years 6 months.

Special Populations:

We will be collecting data from children who have a diagnosis of mild or moderate intellectual disability, gifted and talented, cognitive developmental delay, autism, Asperger’s, expressive language disorder, receptive-expressive language disorder, emotional disturbance, ADHD, developmental delay-motor and emergent preliteracy concerns.

Test Administration Time:

It will take 60 to 190 minutes, depending upon the age of the child.

Field Examiners Needed:

Clinical, School or Neuro Psychologists, or supervised graduate students of these fields may apply, as well as Psychometrists and Psychometricians.

Scope of Project:

We will be collecting approximately 1300 typically-developing cases, plus approximately 400 cases in the clinical categories.

Testing Dates:

July 2011 through March 2012

Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children–Fifth Edition (WISC-V)

Test Description:

The WISC is not only used to assess intellectual and cognitive abilities in young children but to also as an effective clinical tool used to diagnosis learning disabilities and attention disorders. The WISC-IV is being updated, and we will be going into final standardization in 2012.

Ages to be Tested:

Ages 6 years 0 months through 16 years 11 months.

Special Populations:

We will be collecting data from children who have a diagnosis of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) – Inattentive, Hyperactive/Impulsive, or Combined and Asperger’s.

Test Administration Time:

It will take 120 to 150 minutes, depending upon the age of the child.

Field Examiners Needed:

Clinical, School or Neuro Psychologists, or supervised graduate students of these fields may apply.

Testing Dates:

July 2011 through 2012

Wechsler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence–Second Edition (WASI–II) Standardization

Test Description:

The Wechsler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence – Second Edition (WASI – II) will be a brief, individually administered test of intellectual functioning for individuals ages 6:0 – 90:11. It is a revision of the Wechsler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence (WASI; Wechsler, 1999).

Ages or Grades to be Tested:

We will be testing individuals ages 6 years 0 months through 90 years 11 months

Special Populations:

Clinical studies will include individuals identified with moderate to mild Intellectual Disability (ID or mental retardation) Gifted, Learning Disorder for Math or Reading, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).

Test Administration Time:

30 to 45 minutes

Field Examiners Needed:

Clinical, School or Neuro Psychologists, supervised graduate students in thesefields and Psychometricians and Psychometrists may participate.

Testing Dates:

Standardization testing will continue until May 2011.

Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement, Third Edition (KTEA–III)

Test Description:

The KTEA–III assesses adult and child performance on academic skills and problem-solving abilities. It specifically deals with skills in reading decoding and comprehension, mathematics applications and computation, and spelling.

Ages or Grades to be Tested:

Grades Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 8th, and 11th as well as children ages 4.0-5.11 NOT enrolled in Kindergarten for the 2011-2012 school year and adults ages 18.0-25.11.

Special Populations:

We will be collecting data from children who have a clinical diagnosis or who receive Special Education services, specifically those who are labeled as learning disabled in both reading and writing.

Test Administration Time:

60–175 minutes, depending on the age/grade of the examinee

Field Examiners Needed:

Clinical, Neuro-, or School Psychologists, supervised graduate students of these fields, and Psychometricians, and Psychometrists, may participate.

Scope of Project:

We will be collecting approximately 800 cases

Testing Dates:

June 2011–November 2011

Differential Ability Scales–Second Edition Spanish Preschool (DAS–II SP) (Various Testing Phases)

Test Description:

Pearson’s Clinical Assessment division is developing an updated version of the Differential Ability Scales–II Preschool Spanish. Known as DAS–II Preschool Spanish, it will be designed to assess the cognitive abilities that are important to learning.

Ages or Grades to be Tested:

4:0 to 4:5 years and 6:0 to 6:11 years (will vary depending on phase of project)

Special Populations:

We will be conducting a series of studies. Details will be provided as they become available

Test Administration Time:

60 minutes (will vary depending on phase of project)

Field Examiners Needed:

All examiners must be bilingual in English and Spanish. Clinical, School or Neuro Psychologists, graduate students of these fields, Psychometricians and Psychometrists may participate.

Scope of Project:

We will be collecting data from Spanish-speaking children from across the United States to include Puerto Rico.

Testing Dates:

Spanish speaking sample collection is scheduled to begin in 2011.

Bruininks Motor Ability Test For Adults (B-MAT) - formerly known as BOT2–Adult

Test Description:

The test provides a comprehensive assessment of gross and fine motor skills for adults ages 40 and older. It is designed to help professionals determine an adult’s motor capability for independent living as well as to help guide treatment, set treatment goals, and monitor progress toward those goals. 

Ages or Grades to be Tested:

Adults ages 40+ (no upper limit)

Special Populations:

In addition to collecting information from adults living independently, we will be collecting data from adults who currently live with a caregiver or who live on their own with someone coming in to provide assistance 5+ days a week. We also will be collecting information from adults who currently live in a rehabilitation, assisted living, or skilled nursing facility.

Test Administration Time:

60–75 minutes

Field Examiners Needed:

Occupational and Physical Therapists, certified OT and PT assistants, Clinical, Neuro-, or School Psychologists, Speech Language Pathologists, and Registered Nurses may participate. We will also accept supervised students of physical or occupational therapy, including those in training as a PT or OT assistant.

Scope of Project:

We will be collecting approximately 1100 cases

April 2011–January 2012
