Personality Test Aids Corrections Officers in Daily Management of Offenders
Colorado program to be presented at April workshop
February 25, 2004, MINNEAPOLIS—Attendees at the April, 2004 Symposium of the Mental Health in Corrections Consortium in Kansas City can learn about a program in which corrections officers are trained
to provide appropriate responses for daily management of offenders in high-security environments.
The Colorado Department of Corrections has developed a staff training program which uses inmates’ personality data to develop structured alternative management strategies for different offender personalities.
Colorado correctional psychologist John Stoner, PhD, will present the program at a pre-conference workshop entitled “Officer and Offender Personalities: Training for High Security Staff.” The workshop will be held Monday, April 19, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Stoner is the Mental Health Coordinator for Colorado State Penitentiary and a major contributor to the development of the corrections-specific interpretive report for the MCMI-III (Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-III) test.
Symposium attendees may visit the Pearson Assessments table at the conference to learn more about the MCMI-III assessment, or call Pearson Assessments at (800) 627-7271, ext.3291. Online resources are available at http://www.pearsonassessments.com
