The MAT involves background knowledge critical to the commencement of study in graduate school. The test is intended to measure an individual’s ability to recognize relationships between ideas and requires fluency in the English language and general knowledge of the humanities, natural sciences, mathematics, and social sciences. The exam consists of 120 analogy items that reflect content categories relevant to graduate programs.
