The Early Screening Inventory-Revised (ESI-R™) 2008 Edition provides a brief developmental screening instrument designed to be individually administered to children from 3.5 to 5.11 years of age. It identifies children who many need special education services in order to perform successfully in school. Research has shown the ESI-R to he highly reliable and valid.
Two Versions
The instrument is availble for two age groups:
- The Early Screening Inventory-Preschool (ESI-P) for ages 3.0 through 4.5 years
- The Early Screening Inventory-Kindergarten (ESI-K) for ages 4.6 through 5.11 years
Separate versions of the score sheets are available for the ESI-P and ESI-K.

The ESI-R 2008 Edition contains newly-designed score sheets to improve accuracy in scoring. The new Examiner's Manual includes two appendices that contain administration and scoring criteria for Spanish-speaking examiners.
