The Escala de Inteligencia de Wechsler para Adultos—Tercera Edicion (EIWA-III) is a Spanish-language adaptation of the popular Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Third Edition (WAIS-III). The EIWA includes the subtests and constructs that have been the foundation of the Wechsler® Scales. The power of the EIWA-III lies not only in its psychometric properties and construct reliability, but also in how it was developed. To strengthen the cultural validity, the third edition was developed in cooperation with the Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico to ensure the language and items were culturally appropriate for Puerto Ricans speaking Spanish.

The EIWA-III provides two sets of summary scores. In addition to the global Full Scale, the EIWA-III subtests can be organized in the traditional manner into the Verbal Scale and Performance Scale illustrated in this table
